Local and Regional Volunteering

Heathgrove has regular and occasional volunteering opportunities with partner organizations and charities.

Please email Laura at volunteering@heathgrove.org.au to receive updates about our various volunteering opportunities.

All volunteers must have registered to volunteer before you can attend training sessions and volunteer activities.

  • Ryder-Cheshire

The Ryder-Cheshire Ivanhoe Homes mission is the relief of suffering through the provision of friendly, low-cost accommodation for patients and their carers coming to Melbourne for hospital treatment.

Heathgrove has an ongoing partnership with Ryder-Cheshire. Our volunteers help with maintaining and setting up the apartments and organizing social events for the resident patients and their carers.

  • Shepherd's Table Soup Kitchen

Shepherd’s Table is a ministry set up within the OLHC parish for the purpose of advancing social and public welfare by relieving the poverty, distress, or disadvantage of individuals and families. Their aim is to provide a nutritious meal, offer an attentive ear, and connect with an open heart in a safe and welcoming environment.

Every fortnight a group of Heathgrove women helps prepare a meal and accompany families and individuals in need.

Shepherd’s Table is held at the parish centre at 496 Princes Highway, Narre Warren.

  • Irregular Opportunities

Heathgrove also has occasional volunteer opportunities in nursing homes, with children and adolescents, and various migrant groups.

Contact Laura at volunteering@heathgrove.org.au to get involved with Ryder-Cheshire or Shepherd’s Table, or to be on the mailing list for new opportunities to volunteer in Melbourne and Victoria.
