14/02/2017 - Refugee Holiday Activity January 2017

Dear volunteer and friends,

Firstly, I would like to thank you very much for your support in making the refugee holiday program a great success. A special thanks to Friends of Refugees Melbourne for their great work on the day and in making a big impact on the lives of so many people.

We received very positive feedback from all the families, and we hope that they were able to take away positive experiences from the day.

We will upload some photos from the programs on our website in the next few days. You may also access all the photos via this link:

23/07/2016 - July Activity Photos

Dear parents and friends,

We are sending an update with photos from our July programs. We hope you enjoy!

Mother & Daughter Camp- Heathgrove ran its first ever Mother & Daughter Camp in Castlemaine and it was a great success! There were ten campers and it included workshops, a "getting to know you" questionnaire, orienteering and a very sweet marshmallow bonfire! We will definitely have a Mother & Daughter Camp again in July 2017! You can see some of the photos here: http://www.heathgrove.org.au/whats-on/gallery.php!

Refugee Holiday Program- Heathgrove ran a training and volunteering program for 20 girls aged 14 to 20. The girls organised a very fruitful holiday program for more than 30 refugee kids and their families. The refugee families from Iran, Pakistan, Libya, and Bangladesh were very grateful and impressed by the girls energy and generosity! You can see some of the photos here: http://www.heathgrove.org.au/whats-on/gallery.php!

We hope you are keeping warm and look forward to seeing you and your families at the upcoming family BBQ.

Kind regards,

Carmen

15/07/2016 - Thank You & Future Plans

Dear volunteers and tutors,

Thank you so much for your help over the weekend! The program was a great success and besides making a positive impact in the lives of the families we met, it helped us to learn heaps about ourselves and our friends :-)

The representatives from the Boorandara Council were very impressed and told me that they were very proud of you because you are able to reach out to others in our society who have very different cultural and social backgrounds. They spoke highly of your generosity and maturity! Now, keep it up!! Be agents of good wherever you are :-)!

FORM was also very happy with the outcome and have approached us to run something in West Melbourne (were the need is even greater as they have a big community of refugees out there) in the September holidays. We will see if this is feasible and will keep you posted!

In the meantime we would like to share with you the photos we took in these links:

We are also thinking of organising a lunch reunion of the whole group (we ended up being about 20 volunteers!!!) in a couple of weeks in the city!

Till then all the best with your uni/school work and see you soon!

Carmen
